Since the end of 2019, Lebanon has been plunged into an economic, financial, political and social crisis leading to an explosion of unemployment and poverty. In this context, young people are particularly affected, finding themselves without employment opportunities and preferring exile outside Lebanon to enter professional life.
In a context of economic, political and social crisis and in the face of the absence of public policies from the State, it is crucial to put the Lebanese municipality back at the heart of local action, to show it as a space open to citizens and dialogue in order to strengthen trust between citizens, including youth, and the municipal institution and to better respond to their needs. It is also necessary to strengthen and support municipalities so that they can encourage youth employment and ensure local economic development.
